Critical Care Coding
Provide a prospective or retrospective review of a sample of critical care claims to determine accurate and complete charge capture, adequacy of supporting documentation and appropriate ICD-9 diagnosis assignment. This includes a focus on documentation supporting patient meets the defined criteria for reimbursable critical care services and accurate time coding, documentation and billing.
A revenue optimization review can be performed to evaluate complete charge capture, correct coding and documentary to support for additionally billable services. This review includes evaluating the correct "bundling" of services to prevent overpayment and time spent with family members included & excluded from reimbursement. Finally, the utilization of the consultation services codes in critical care practice is included.
Seminars on critical care coding, documentation and billing of critical care services is available for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
